The mandate to leverage quality information assets within agencies, and to share information across agencies, is driving intense pressure for improved integration, transformation and application of knowledge, information and data. As a nation, we can no longer afford to create and maintain mountains of single-purpose information, or to have the same information stored in multiple redundant and inconsistent forms. Information must be entered once and made available, accessible, and understandable where most needed.
Delivering quality, sharable, reusable, interoperable information presents huge challenges, especially for enterprises mired in decades of legacy stovepipe applications and data silos. Our mission is to help our customers overcome these challenges and make the most of their data to accomplish their mission more effectively and efficiently. Every enterprise has mountains of information in a variety of disparate sources and forms – in enterprise databases, in XML, in unstructured or semi-structured content, and in messages. Much of it is redundant and uncontrolled, and therefore potentially inconsistent and of suspect quality. Information sources are in constant change and new sources appear all the time. Similarly there are myriads of diverse users and uses for information. Unanticipated needs and uses arise, and new user groups form constantly.
